Sistema SmartTech invests in Profilum career guidance platform
Moscow, July 29 –Sistema SmartTech, the venture fund of Sistema JSFC, invests 130 mln rubles in career guidance platform “Profilium”. The platform provides a service for professional orientation of school-age children. The Company plans to use the raised funds to develop the platform and enter new markets.
The founders of Profilum are Anna Shaikhutdinova and Vitaly Altukhov, the key shareholders are Genome Ventures, "Prosveshchenie" Group of Companies, and Andrey Sharonov.
“Profilum” is an international online career development service for children and their parents. The platform helps teenagers to understand themselves and determine the direction of development with the help of a unique technology. It is based on psychometric testing, analysis of educational opportunities and forecasting the dynamics of the labor market.
The company's main revenue channel is sales to schools, as well as to regional and municipal authorities that make decisions in favor of students. The users of the product are the students themselves, parents, school administration and bodies of authority. Various analytical tools and multi-level analytics are available for each group of users, depending on the available tasks.
More than 300 thousand students and more than 1700 schools from 12 regions of Russia are registered on the platform. The company's services are also available in Kazakhstan. Today Profilum accumulated an extensive user base. In addition to career guidance, it offers educational services for children and consultations for parents. This segment is expected to generate up to 35% of the company's revenue by 2023.
"Profilum operates in the EdTech segment, the average annual growth rate of which in the world is projected at 16.3% until 2025. This market is also developing rapidly in Russia: according to various estimates, it grew by 30-35% in 2020. The program of digitalization of schools within the framework of the national project "Education" is an additional driver to boost the growth of the EdTech segment. Profilum, in our opinion, offers the highest quality career guidance solution in Russia. It can become the leader of this market" said Artem Sirazutdinov, a member of the investment committee of the Sistema SmartTech Fund.
"Even though digital projects in the field of career guidance were not so noticeable until recently, today it is an interesting and promising segment of the educational services market. Families of schoolchildren in Russia spend more than 40 billion rubles a year on additional education and child development. Profilum collects and analyzes more than 1000 different parameters to build recommendations. The company has high-quality product and deep analytics. In the future it may become the basis of a large EdTech business," commented the managing partner of the fund Sistema SmartTech Ksenia Shoygu.
"With the quantitative growth of educational formats, the constant change in the labor market, it becomes difficult to determine the directions of a child's development and understand what skills are important to develop. Career guidance is only a part of a capacious market demand for individual education and understanding of the child's characteristics. We have already launched a tutor support service that based on our platform. Attracting investments will help us to become a full-fledged parent's assistant in the development of children in Russia and in the world," said Anna Shaikhutdinova, CEO and co - founder of Profilum.
